Northeast Boise flows from downtown along Warm Springs Road, making its way along the foothills east toward Lucky Peak reservoir. Warm Springs Road, like Harrison Boulevard, is a showplace for stately Victorian, neoclassical and Craftsman style homes that mark Boise’s historic past. Growth along this corridor has given birth to beautifully planned communities, like Harris Ranch, and foothill communities such as Warm Springs Mesa, that provide easy access to the city’s business and commercial districts, as well as striking views of the Treasure Valley from its hillsides. Many of the original homes along Warm Springs Road feature unique geothermal heat systems that use the naturally hot subterranean spring waters for which the road is named.
Northeast Boise offers its residents a number of recreational opportunities, too, including the Morrison-Knudsen Nature Center and walking, jogging or bicycling along Boise’s Greenbelt—a 16-mile swath of paved and natural trails that stretch along both sides of the Boise River—a public golf course, the Natatorium public swimming facility, floating and rafting on the river, and swimming and boating at nearby Lucky Peak Reservoir. As in the North End, this area of the city is adjacent to the foothills with easy access to the Ridges-to-Rivers trail system.
