Garden City

The city of Garden City was named for the gardens raised by Chinese immigrants that settled there. In the 1940s, the area suffered the ill effects of legalized gambling and regulatory laxity that have come under heightened scrutiny in recent years. The city has been undergoing a transformation since that time, and boasts some of the most beautiful waterfront properties in the area. Chinden Boulevard, the major thoroughfare through Garden City, is also the commercial center of this small city. You’ll find every type of business located here, from professional offices to recreational vehicle sales centers, coffee roasters, restaurants and bistros. Garden City attracts many Idahoans and tourists as the home of the Idaho State Fairgrounds, Les Bois Park (horse racing), and Hawks Memorial Stadium, where the Boise Hawks professional baseball team plays. The Boise River frontage is still relatively undeveloped in this area, which continues to offer opportunities for residential and commercial development.
